Accounting Manager

Position Status: Salary - Exempt

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Reports to: Division Accounting Manager — Direct Equities

Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager will support the Division Controller with primary responsibility for refining and developing business processes for certain operating entities of the D’Orazio Direct Equity, LLC (“DDE”) portfolio. The position will be responsible for execution in all areas related to accounting, including but not limited to, financial statement creation/review, financial reporting analysis, monitoring of key metrics, working capital/cash flow management, and development of standard cost modeling. This position will be critical in the oversight, development, and mentoring of accounting staff members at the operating level. They must quickly and effectively articulate financial issues in a clear and concise manner as well as be adept in interacting with many different functional people on different levels of the organization. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently and consistently produce the operating entities assigned with corporate financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Identify and execute process enhancements
  • Analyze, interpret, and present detailed results
  • Manage internal and external financial reporting requirements, including preparation of board reports and ad hoc requests
  • Drive cash optimization and working capital management strategies
  • Provide strong and sustained leadership, support, and guidance to operating company accounting team resources regarding both technical accounting/financial functions and their professional growth and development
  • Drive consistent costing methodologies and strategic data across diverse business operations (manufacturing, inventory, and buy/sell) in collaboration with operating company leadership
  • Develop a strong understanding of all costs associated with production
  • Top priority will be the full implementation of ERP systems at certain entities in a systematic and expeditious manner supported by the Business Procurement Manager
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting and planning process for responsible companies
  • Calculate budget variances and report significant issues to management team
  • Drive the bank reconciliation process and lead the treasury function
  • Develop a strong understanding of all costs associated with production
  • Strategic Planning on multiple levels
  • Point of contact for operating company external audits in support of Division Controller

Qualifications:

  • Seven or more years of professional experience in manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, MBA/CPA preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Superior work ethic, strong desire to learn, and uncompromising attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Travel to operating companies required (+/- 50%).
  • Comfortable managing multiple work streams and projects concurrently, both day-to-day responsibilities as well as long-term projects with a strong adherence to deadlines
  • An ability to build working relationships across various departments with individuals at various experience levels
  • A self-starter, roll-up-the-sleeves attitude with a strong sense of urgency
  • Superior analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong maturity, self-confidence, and the ability to take on increased responsibility

Physical Requirements:

Standing, sitting and bending throughout the day. Requires use of office equipment primarily computer, printers and copier. Work duties performed in an office environment and required interaction within the factory on a regular basis as needed. Able to lift maximum of 20 lbs.
