HINSDALE, IL, Sept. 28, 2017 – D’Orazio Capital Partners, LLC, a Chicago-based private equity firm, served as a Magna Cum Laude sponsor and co-host of the fourth annual Glass Half Full Illinois, a benefit event for Greenhouse Scholars, an education-based non-profit organization. Recently held on Sept. 9 in Hinsdale, IL, Glass Half Full Illinois raised nearly $90,000 to support the organization’s programs.
The event, which was held at the Hinsdale home of Richard and Andrea Burridge, drew nearly 250 donors, volunteers, and Scholars. The Scholars shared their personal stories about overcoming challenges and discussed how Greenhouse Scholars has helped support their journeys of personal achievement and community impact.
Since 2005, Greenhouse Scholars has helped under-resourced, high performing young people reach their true potential. The organization provides essential professional, personal, and financial support during college for students who have overcome great challenges such as homelessness, poverty, violence, and other dire circumstances, and develops them to be leaders in their schools and communities. Though more than three-quarters of Scholars are first-generation college students, the organization boasts a graduation rate of more than 90%, compared to the national average of just 11% among low-income students.
“We are truly grateful for the support of D’Orazio Capital Partners in helping us to again have an extremely successful Glass Half Full event,” said Pete Burridge, president and CEO of Greenhouse Scholars. “Their partnership is helping us to support the next generation of leaders to change trajectories of families, communities, and the world.”
“Glass Half Full is an excellent reminder of how investing in the education of our youth strengthens our community,” R.J. D’Orazio, founder and CEO of D’Orazio Capital Partners, shared. “We are proud to support Greenhouse Scholars and its commitment to help deserving students grow into tomorrow’s leaders.”
